Attention writers: Let me lead you down the caffeinated snack trail
Breathes there a writer worth his reputation who does NOT take in large quantities of caffeine daily in one form or another? Here’s a useful website and product I wanted to tell you about, my fellow caffeine junkies.
I just read some ad copy for a new snack food, a munchie chip that’s loaded with caffeine. Set for release to convenience stores and grocers later this month, the evil little goodies are called “ENGOBI,” a trademarked name created from the phrase “Energy Go Bites” — which the company, Rudolph Foods, has also trademarked.
I especially loved the comparison I read in the ad between these caffeine laden snack chips and various “energy drinks” as far as their ability to pep you up. According to the “ENGOBI” people, their 1.5 ounce bag of snack chips will have “significantly more” caffeine than the market’s leading energy drinks. But what I really got a kick out of was their jargon for these types of snacks. I had never seen the term “functional foods” used to describe any category of foods, certainly not various types of snack foods.
You can find out more about the ENGOBI chips, styled in the ad copy as “the love child of caffeine and snack chips,” (I really like that one, too) at ENGOBI’s website. You really need to take a look at the website, for the fun of it. The web designers give you additional information about their coming product — so far it seems to be coming out in cinnamon and lemon flavors, perhaps others? — and they even included some fun ad copy and fun animation.
Now excuse me while I take a quick drive around town, spotting neighborhood stores and convenience stores where I can keep a lookout for ENGOBI.
