Tips for writing titles, articles for your website or blog

Here are a few tips to help you write titles and articles for content on your website or blog:

1. Write a title that’s a “grabber,” and that contains your keyword(s). A good title will catch the reader’s attention and contain — preferably as the first words in the title — the keywords you wish to focus on with your article. I did an article a couple of years ago about writing titles. You might want to take a look at that.

I have a question for all you bloggers out there: How do you decide what you’re going to write about?

I’ve known many people in the last few years who have started blogging. Many of them really don’t know what they want to write about, but they’ve decided it would be a good thing to blog, so they start blogging.

The questions I’ve asked in the title to this blog post are not rhetorical. They are real questions an online pal of mine asked me recently. This person, who is very shy so I won’t give away any personal information, has been doing affiliate marketing and writing copy for “non-blogging” websites for a number of years. And doing quite well at it, too.

I’ve come into a tiny bit of extra money recently and I’m about to take the plunge and buy a “netbook,” a strange breed of writing tools that didn’t even exist a few years ago.

Here’s a little tip for bloggers, mostly for those who post comments on blogs; SPECIFICALLY for those of you who try to sp*m this and other blogs with idiotic comments just to get a link back to your money-making scheme or cr*p-filled website. Don’t waste your time: Most blogs run on WordPress software, which automatically makes all links in post comments into “nofollow” links.

How are ‘smartphones’ changing your life as a writer?

How are “smartphones” changing your life as a writer? Or are they?

I confess that I’m sort of a “Luddite” when it comes to cutting edge high-tech (if you’ve been around here often, you probably already figured that out), partly by nature and mostly because of budgetary constraints, should we say? I have a nearly antique, plain vanilla cell phone which I carry around. It’s generally turned off, because I mostly just use it when I need to make a call. (My adult children, especially my daughter, insist that statement alone betrays my “old guy” status.)
